mesh problem: small size and slow generation of it

Hi all,

I'm trying to generate a mesh in a model with many slab of different thickness, setting 1 m as element size, but robot gives back a mesh with 0.50m elements. I tried to set 1m a lot of times and to re-open the model, generating the mesh again, but I got the same problem.
The mesh generating process takes about 5 minutes and it never lasted so much before.

Please, help me.
