Dear all,
I have a question regarding the definition of members-group for verification. First of all I would like to know if from a dwg is there any possibility to keep a group definition (through blocks definition for example?).
Then my issue: I have a curved geometry which I will import in segments (I will import a geometry with already segments instead of curved arches, with a subdivision of each arch in X equal parts, since I have observed some problems in importing arches).
For the resistance and stability verifications I think I can follow 2 options:
1) to redefine each arch as member selecting each segment and defining members, then providing as bucling length for istance L total lenght of the arch (i.g.)
2) to define each bar as member, assining a buckling length of L0 = x*L.
I have already check option 1) and it works, but it takes me a lot of time to define members selecting bars, it is a quite complex geometry. Regarding option 2), Is there a fast way to automatically define each single bar as member with the same settings L0 = x*L?
Just create a superbar for checking the arc (chain of bars).
Search for superbar on this forum and also watch the steel design webinar
