Mapping robot points from a .dwg file

I am a new grad in the automation field, and I'm learning new tricks everyday.
I heard a functionality that was briefly brought up in a discussion about mapping points in a robot trajectory (with a FANUC in particular), by using a .dwg file.....I have never heard of this, and was wondering if any of you could shed light on this concept.
