Is it possible to pre-tension the cables?

Is it possible to pre-tension the cables? I am unsure how to pre-tension the cables, they are not resisting the loads. It is for set 14 (COMB3).

Thankyou, however from this a 'No convergence of nonlinear problem' rose once calculated. Do you know how to fix this please? Maybe my model is unsatisfactory.

Hi 6c2,

normally with cable structures you have to:

1)  fix rotations for all nodes where cables are linked to each other

2) instead of apply a force in the cable for pretension load it is better apply load by means of epsilon (eps=N/EA)

3) use Full Newton Raphson method for all loads and comb.

Bye

Roberto
