Incorrect section properties - 200x150x10 RHS

Hi all,

During a recent verification of section stresses, we discovered a significant issue in the CORUS catalogue within Autodesk Robot. The RHS 200x150x10 section has been incorrectly assigned the section properties of a RHS 250x150x10. This misassignment could lead to serious inaccuracies in structural analysis and design.

We urge Autodesk to investigate and correct this error as a matter of urgency

In the meantime, we are conducting an internal audit to verify the accuracy of all section properties in the catalogue, as this raises concerns about the reliability of other entries.

Looking forward to Autodesk’s prompt response and resolution.

Hi @JLIUXJJG

Here is an extract from the Corus database and the RHS250*150*10, the values seem the same. Could you tell me what needs to be corrected?

It is likely that your catalog specifies that the radii of curvature are for reference, and that the listed characteristics are calculated from dimensions and not guaranteed.

Hi Stephane,

Thanks for your speedy response. You are correct, the section properties for the HRHS section are correct. The issue we are seeing is that there is a second section within the Corus database for RHS sections - here the 200 x 150 x 10 RHS has the wrong properties. See snips below of where the problem section is

Can you please confirm what this sub data base is ? Is this also visible for you? Please can you check this section for us specifically. Your assistance in getting to the bottom of this is much appreciated.

Understood - but are you able to see if this 'RHS' family is also showing for you under the 'corus' database. It is concerning to me that a section of incorrect properties is available to be selected atall.

As I see it, manufacturers are the ones who provide details about their ranges and section properties. Checking every tube section is neither my job nor my responsibility.

The RHS 200x150x10 (ID 3797) appears to have the same properties as the CHRS 250x150x10 (ID 3955). I agree with you, but should the RHS 200x150x10 be deleted or modified?

Hi Stephane,

Thank you for all your responses so far — they’ve been very helpful.

I’m keen to understand how this particular section has become available for selection from a database that, to my understanding, is provided as part of the Autodesk ROBOT software package.

Would you be able to check whether the section in question is selectable on your end? If so, could you please confirm whether its properties are indeed incorrect?
If a section with inaccurate properties is present in the database, I believe it would be appropriate to take steps to have it removed. I’d like to avoid others encountering the same issue.

I first thought you were comparing the Dlubal web database with the Corus one, but it’s actually as accurate as the Corus Celsius database. Since you found a section that doesn’t match the expected properties, I’d suggest correcting or deleting it.

Hi Stephane,

Thanks again - i agree this spurious section should be deleted - we will action this. I am trying to find if this issue is consistent for all Autodesk Robot users, are others also able to select this section from the data base. My concern is that there is an issue with this section for all users. If this is the case, i want to bring this to the attention of Autodesk so it can be removed @okapawal. If you are able to find it and review the properties that would be helpful in clarifying my query.

in the Corus database, you must check these two items, knowing that everything depends for the others on the fillet radius

ID 3796 RHS 200x150x8, ID 3797 RHS 200x150x10
