Inconsistency in envelope table results and maps on panels and shells

Good morning Support,

 

I am designing designing piled slab that supports column and few liftshafts. I choosen to go with the shell model.

 

Above piles and in the location of the columns I created the rigid links to allow for the reansfer of forces through out the whol perimeter of each member.

 

When I am running the results, the results table for panels and shells give me in one critica combination value of around 460 kN but when I am looking at the map on the screen it gives me mximum values of around 550kN.

 

Could you please help as I don't know what is wrong and I am sceptic of what results I should do to undertake the reinforcement analysis.

 

Is it a problem with mesh?

 

My model is build from to seperate panels but when meshed it looks like the notes between both connect nicely.

Apologies again to be pushy, but I am a bit against the wall.

 

Are the descrepencies in the results are due to meshing or something else.?

Two more things.

 

1. When I've applied this change I am getting results for elements in the table. Is ther any way to get the maximum for the panel as it was before?

 

2. When looking at the shear diagram/map especially around rigid link areas I am getting high forces. As the unit for shear is kN/m we have been wondering how to interpreat the internal shear forces and what to use as the total load for example for punching shear calculations?

Do we need to divide this load by lenght?

Yes, all you need to do is to filter the table to show you only nodes from the panel you are interested in.

Both the values on maps and in the corresponding table are displayed per unit width.

Hi Artur,

 

Thank you for that.

 

So adding to that if I have a value off 200kN that is at the corner of 0.2x0.2m column what width should I take that this force is acting upon.

 

We have a problem to understand what value should we take to check the punching shear around the perimeter of the column base that is on top of the slab as the values around the perimeter have different magnitude?

 

Any thought about that?

 

Another trivial thing.

 

When I am displaying results on the maps and change the values to be displayed they disapear. I need to click open in new window and close then new window for it to appear again. Any thought what can cause that?

If you want to consider the force only you may just look at the reaction. For additional effect of the unbalanced moment you should follow the particular code provisions (see: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/robot-structural-analysis/check-punching/m-p/4609603)

 

Try to reduce the display acceleration:

I have tried the trick with the accelaration and it don't help. Do you know any other way that can help with this issue.

 

I have tried to ope the link provided and it don't link to the artical.

Have you restarted the program (this is needed to have this setting applied)? 

 

Could you attach the screen capture (make sure it is whole Robot application rather than a part of it) that shows how the "empty map" viewer looks like and what are the settings of the Maps dialog please?
