Incoherent mesh error when copying stories

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me, I created a model first two storeys and run the model and there are no issues except an instability type 3 warning which I am assuming is the due to the difference in element stiffness. I then create stories for the bottom two levels and copy the storey at the higher level up. when I run the calculations again I seem to be getting incoherent mesh error message all the time. Is there anyway of sorting this out? I have tried some different mesh types i.e. square, triangular etc. however it is still the same error message. the strange thing is I copied up the storey below yesterday and run calculations and incoherent mesh was not an issue??? this incoherent meshing error messages are extremely vexing and seem to always appear on my models. I have attached a snap shot and the model file in a wetransfer link below, if anyone can help it would be most appreciated.

Hi @skellyRSA2023

IMHO this would work with no issues only when you have the nodes on the bottom and edge of the walls in the same positions (one above the others). In other words the steps should be:

1. Generate mesh for the bottom floor

2. Copy the bottom floor to the next level

3. Mesh the walls between these floors

4. Freeze meshes

5. Copy the story up

Artur,

Many Thanks. Your solution works. However using the complex mesh option to mesh the panels also works when you tick off rectangular mesh, however I am unsure how that would affect the results if at all.

Also, based on your solution I copied the walls and floors up separately using the edit/move-copy command. However previously I was defining the stories first and using the stories/copy story command which I assumed would have had the same results but obviously not due to the incoherent mesh error message, why is this I would have thought both methods would have worked? is this not what the stories/copy story command is for? or can this only to be used at certain times?
