This thread is a continuation of thread "IntelForm - Innovative parametric modeler" due to change of the name from IntelForm to IgentForm (with a new webpage www.igentform.com)

 

26.09.2017 at the Cracow University of Technology was presented and defended diploma thesis by Mrs Marta Tluscik entitled "Application of IgentForm program in the practice of parametric design and structural optimisation using BIM technology", led by Dr.Eng. Jacek Magiera. In attachment is a brief outline of a selected piece of work connected with modeling of one of the towers of Absolute Towers complex in Canada.

IgentForm - parametric creation of roof geometry

 

One of IgentForm’s most innovative capabilities  is the ability to model complex and non-standard roof coverings with exceptional ease.

The software features an intuitive interface that requires no programming skills. In just a few minutes, users can create complex structural forms using any custom or standard curves and profiles (including trusses).

A newly introduced functionality allows users to generate roof geometries based on structural deformations.
For any given solid and boundary conditions (walls, beams, or columns, either pinned or fixed), IgentForm calculates and visualizes deformations under any load (by default, self-weight).
This deformation — freely scalable — is stored as a points cloud, which can then be used to model the actual roof surface.

The resulting geometry can serve as the final architectural form or as a starting point for further design exploration using standard IgentForm tools.

Models can be exported in IFC format to Autodesk Revit or directly transferred via the API to Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis.
