This thread is a continuation of thread "IntelForm - Innovative parametric modeler" due to change of the name from IntelForm to IgentForm (with a new webpage www.igentform.com)

 

26.09.2017 at the Cracow University of Technology was presented and defended diploma thesis by Mrs Marta Tluscik entitled "Application of IgentForm program in the practice of parametric design and structural optimisation using BIM technology", led by Dr.Eng. Jacek Magiera. In attachment is a brief outline of a selected piece of work connected with modeling of one of the towers of Absolute Towers complex in Canada.

In the current semester in the Department of Building Constructions of the University of Technology and Life Sciences in Bydgoszcz, IgentForm program will be used by students of Msc. Jarosław Gajewski for modeling of steel towers used for assembly of mobile devices. Model created in IgentForm software will be later exported to and calculated by Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis program.

Additionally, now releases on beams can be easily defined in IgentForm and exported to Autodesk Robot Structural Analaysis.

If you try to create Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis models basing on DWG/DXF background, it is now possible to profit from next enhancements in IgentForm software, namely support of original colors for lines and definition of mass contour by clicking inside closed polygon. (see DXF_PolyEN.png)

 

Coming soon - innovative parametric program (based on IgentForm interface) for reinforcement drawings - import DXF file as background, define reinforcement regions and parameters, create automatically reinforcement drawings with summary table and save result in DXF file. (see IgentDrawEN.png)

Parametric modeling has just been extended by a new program called IgentDraw, based on IgentForm interface and philosophy. It allows for quick and easy creation of reinforcement drawings for plates. Basing on DXF file background (optionally), one should define regions and reinforcement parameters like f. ex. diameter, spacing, hooks details and points of rebars division - drawings and summary table are created automatically after change of any parameter. Drawings can be tuned in IgentDraw as each reinforcement position is editable an saved in DXF format. It enables to load this file into f. ex. AutoDesk AutoCAD for final treatment. In further steps a closer connection with Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis program can be imagined by import of reinforcement crosses.

One of the unique feature of IgentForm, not available in other programs, is possibility to create quickly advanced shapes, like f.ex. roofs according to typical or untypical curves. This geometry can be now more flexibly exchanged with other programs thanks to export in DXF 3D format. Such a file can be later used practically in all MES or CAD programs, what can significantly improve design workflows.

In attached file a simple IgentForm model can be viewed in Autodesk AutoCAD.

In IgentForm software it is now possible to create automatically roof slopes. As it is one of the mass parameters, roof will be redesigned in real time after any change, f.ex. roof contour or inclination angle.  Roof beams, if defined, are also automatically cut to the roof geometry.

As one of the important feature of IgentForm is correctness of calculation model, such structures can be easily exported to Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis and analyzed - example in attached file.

With this functionality, it is at least 10 reasons, for which IgentForm can be used as a valuable addition to Robot, enhancing significantly its power - short summary in attached file.

As a longtime Robot developper I have a natural sentiment to it and I believe, that Robot will be applied in practise yet for many years as it has a big group of devoted users. It is quite old program now (development of Windows version started more than 20 years ago), but it  has good an stable API, practically not changed for a few versions, what can help to extend significantly its possibilities, even if internal development is not planned for the moment. (old versions users can benefit from it)

 

IgentForm software, in connection with RSA,  tries to concentrate on features, which are not available in Robot at all or their usage is difficult and requires plenty of time.

So I think that combination of Robot power and amazing possibilities of parametric modeling could be acceptable for many users, as it can deliver new great opportunities at reasonable price.

As a supplement to roof slopes option, it is now also possible to define adjacent buildings (neighbours) on any edge of building contour. It influences the distribution of roof plates and makes this option better adjusted to design practice.

 

In addition, as a quick answer for the request of one of current IgentForm users, roof slopes option has been added as a new possibility to structure variants generation.

With New Year comes new functionality in the family of parametric software. It is now possible to easily export plate geometry, even advanced one with curve edges and openings, from IgentForm to IgentDraw, where it is possible to get reinforcement drawings. This functionality opens new possibility as far as further added value for Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis program users is concerned, namely calculation of theoretical reinforcement areas for plates by Robot engine, what may help to synchronize final reinforcement with calculations.

If you try to create Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis models basing on DWG/DXF background, it is now possible to profit from next enhancements in IgentForm software, namely possibility to change lines, which create beams and walls (with openings) on 2D view into 3D objects, with automatic recognition of elements widths and adjusting elements ends for proper creation of calculation model. (IgentFormDXF1EN.png attachment)

IgentForm automatically adjusts defined elements to requirements of parametric defintion, by automatic creation of axes and internal lines.

Mode of points definition has also been improved for all programs from IgentForm parametric software family.

 

IgentDraw software for parametric creation of reinforcement drawings has been improved according to customer's remarks. It is now possible to automatically get clear drawing even for complicated reinforcement regions (IgentDrawI4.png attachment) 

 

NOVELTY -  IgentPres it is a new member of parametric software family, created at the request of one of large companies from Warsaw, basing on IgentForm and IgentDraw interface. Thanks to it, it is possible to create easily 3D models of complicated arrangements of prestressed tendons, basing on DWG/DXF backgrounds, with different number of strands and anchorage details. After saving file into IFC format, it is possible to get 3D model of prestressed tendons f.ex. in Autodesk Revit. It is especially important for public buildings, where BIM requirements starts to be obligatory. (attachment IgentPres1EN.png)

IgentForm v.2.0 has just been released.

It comes with a new very useful functionality with amazing user experience , namely influence surfaces. It is a first, but big step towards load takedown calculations, which can be very useful for Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis users, as they will deliver quick tool for structure verification and results comparison with finite element method calculations.

Next step in Load TakeDown calculations is distribution of plates loads to elements directly supporting these plates, basing on influence surfaces for walls, beams and columns. It has just been implemented in IgentForm software, with real time recalculations after any modification, giving at this moment the next benefit for Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis users, as these distributed loads can now be passed to Robot. The user can easily control the accuracy of this operation, as sum of plate loads and distributed loads is displayed for each load case.

This option seems to be breakthrough from the engineering point of view, as it delivers a real analysis which can be used in practise.

Hi,

For the moment it seems that Load TakeDown calculations should have a higher priority as this type of analysis is not commonly available. For the moment, IgentForm has a direct connection with Robot Structural Analysis - model can be exported to this environment to make calculations and also Robot engine can be automatically used in case of analysis of structure variants, where some comparisons of results are required (deflections, stresses). Thanks to this last option, it would be possible to import chosen results from RSA, display them in IgentForm and use them for further design.

Independent calculation engine for FEM is not planned in the closest future.

New options in the program to commemorate the 100th anniversary of regaining independence by Poland!

 

In IgentForm software it is now possible to use plate girder sections (user-parametrized steel sections) and variable sections along the element's length for beams (it concerns rectangular and plate girder sections). These options are automatically taken into account during export to Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis. In case of structures as in the attachment, appropriate variable sections are automatically applied to calculation elements, what helps to save a lot of time during modelisation.

After a break for creating dedicated, innovative program for prestressed structures, which significantly accelerates the creation of project documentation (including the ability to write generated 3D tendons in IFC format), IgentForm software is being developping in direction of Load TakeDown calculations. The first version with possibility to get results from vertical loads, including self-weight, will be available very soon.

The first version of Load TakeDown calculations is already available and demo version can be freely downloaded from www.igentform.com website. It is a fantastic supplement for FEM calculations, especially valuable for typical buildings, as it gives very quick and easy to check results. Additionally, it opens new possibilities for the closest future, like quick predimensioning or vertical loads reduction.

In IgentForm software parallel processing is intensively and safely used to accelerate calculations and deliver amazing user experience, what in this case means immediate results displaying after any structure modification.
