How to include notional loads (EHF) in automatic ULS combination generation

Hi

I understand that there are various topics on notional loads; however I haven't seen any method on how to combine the notional loads with the automatic combinations.

The steps i am currently doing are the following:

1) Create load cases and apply loads to model
2) Create automatic load combinations using the automatic wizard

3) Create notional loads for ULS ULS+ and ULS- as per eurocodes
4) I am struggling to undertsnad how to combine the notional loads as per 3) to 2). I am afraid that combinations on combinations will be created if you know what i mean?

Could someone clarify how to combine 3 with 2 please?

Much appreciated.

Hi,

Notional load cases are just the same as other dead load ones. If you group them together with OR(EXCL) operator (as in case of wind load cases) they will be correctly included in automatic code combination generation.

Hi Thanks for the quick response,

I don't quite follow, notional loads aren't listed when i check the list?

But since they are created from ULS combinations, wouldn't the new combinations include the original combinations?
Like wouldn't it create combinations made with other combinations as opposed to cases?

They are listed both in loads and combinations table.

But since they are created from ULS combinations, wouldn't the new combinations include the original combinations?

This is done automatically if you activate DAM analysis. Otherwise you should correctly group 'standard' and notional loads for automatic code combination generation.

Hi Artur

Would you mind showing me how to do it please (not DAM) but the normal way? A short video clip would be very helpful using the EC way fir combinations. I would highly appreciate your help.

Thanks

Assuming that we target dead laods for generation of notional loads (cases 1 and 3 on the movie) I'd try this approach:

Hello Artur,

Please, can I get a download link of the video you made for sk2k17, showing how to generate notional load combination based on EC.

Thanks

Dear Artur,

By watching your video I understand that in order to not include notational loads in SLS combinations I have to generate manual combinations.  Is there any way how to not include notational loads in SLS combination by using "Full Automatic combinations" option? Otherwise if i have hundreds of combinations, analysis  will take very long time.

Hi @Anonymous

No, I can't think of any way of having this done for autocratic code combinations.
