Frame 2D Design vs Truss 2D design

Hello there, I'm a 2nd year Civil engineeing student and have a question regarding Frame 2D Design vs Truss 2D design.

 

For the following sample questions below, which is the correct one to use for each? If it has pinned supports , wouldn't i need to deselect moment reactions? On a truss 2d design, there is only x and y reactions and no moment options?

 

I'm a bit confused, thanks for reading.

Hi @Anonymous 

For solving any truss in both of the Frame & truss 2D design modules will give you the same results.

The only difference in modeling is that in Frame 2D design module you must select the bars and set as truss members.

 

If the truss is connected to some frame elements (will carry normal, shear and moment), then you must use the frame 2D design module and assign the truss members only as truss ones.
