Floating foundation

Hi.

I'm currently working on a new project involving a floating structure. I've successfully completed the modeling phase and am now moving on to the balance calculations to determine the requirements for the supporting buoyancy tanks (balloons). I have a couple of questions that I hope you can help me with:

1. How should we define the 'ground' or base reference in this type of project to ensure there are no errors in the calculations?
2. Given that the foundation is floating, what types of material constitutive equations or formulas should be applied to accurately model the structural behavior?

Hi,

Why not just use non-linear supports for the underwater lift bags ?

The force is simple: displaced water volume × water density. So if you know the tank shape, you know how volume changes as it sinks → that gives you your force vs displacement curve.
