FEM - Splice Connection

Hi all,

I´m trying to model the splice connection represented on attached pdf. I want to do it with a finite element model using panels to represent its elements.

The problem that i´m having is that i´m not being able to connect the two tubes to the end plate without robot making a hole on the plate. See model in the attachment.

Can anyone help me in finding the best way to model this connection?

Thank you

I would model the 2 base plates and link them with rigid links  (square perimeter of the smallest plate).

Use the "revolve" option to create the cylinders. It won´t create a hole in the base plates.

Hi thanks for the help 🙂

Two questions:

1) In order to create the rigid links how do you gurantee that the nodes from the finite elements of the first plate are alligned with the ones on the second plate. Since the plates have diferent sizes.

2) What is the resolve option that you speek of?

Thanks a lot
