Hi friends!

Is it possible to draw, for example, an L-shaped section and then extrude it as a solid? How?

Please check the attached file for the intended result.

And if so, can i aplly a material to it and study it´s stresses, deformations, etc...

Many thanks.

Aaaaaah I found what was wrong...

I defined the load with kN/mm2 instead of kN/m2. Robot tricked me into this one and my eyes played along.

Sorry Rafal!

So, here I am with the final result, which I´m not very confident with...

The maximum stress, as expected, is located at the bolts (holes) but the value seems very low (2.84 MPa).

In another simulation with my current (to be replaced) software I obtained 31.8 MPa, which is close to the expected.

The aluminium yield strenght is 145 MPa, so the structure is safe, but 2.84MPa just does not sound good.

Any idea why?

Many thanks!

1- Your mesh is not good . 5x5 is not a good setting . Always go for mesh size , in your case , I set it as 0,01m . Also I set emitters in all hole nodes with a starting H0 of 0,005.

2- Stresses seem to be as you expected. You just need to see them in the correct layer(default is " middle"). See below. Play with all possible layers and choose the best for you

Corrected file with no results is attached. Rename it to .rar

Hello rafacascudo,

Choosing the "absolute máx" layer gives me the expected results, althoug a bit higher than the other result I had.

I wouldnt get there by myself because i thought that Robot gave the max stress by default. 🙂

Great tip about the emitters. In a lot of situations i´m going to need a more carefully analysis in some spots of the structures.

Kind regards.

Rafa, any idea why displacements are always null?

This happens not only with this structure but also for panels...

Im such a robot noob that I´m startint to feel ashame...

Tolls/Job preferences/units and format/ Other / displacement  , change to mm with 3 decimals
