Elastic Ground Parameters for Ground Beam

Hi,

I am designing ground beams between pad foundations, and I need to enter elastic ground parameters Ky, Kz, Hx.

I can assume that Kz represents vertical, and Ky is for horizontal coefficient values. I have following questions about this subject:

  • Why there is no Kx like in the elastic supports?
  • What exactly is Hx represents?
  • Can we use attached linear elastic support feature instead of elastic ground members for ground beams?

Kindly provide input.

Thanks

Ky and Kz correspond to the bar local directions. So , check your bar local axes before assuming Kz is for the vertical direction

There is no Kx because this would be the bar axial direction

Hx would be for rotational spring around local x axis

And no , linear supports cannot be used for bars.
