Direct Analysis Method isnot working for 2D Frame

Hi Guys,

I think there is problem for DAM in 2D frame its not activated .

Is there a reason behind this ?

Hi @mustafahesenow

 

My understanding is that it was based on the assumption that if he introduce the imperfection to the otherwise perfectly vertical column so that it increase bending then we cannot limit to the one plane only.

I think it should be implemented in both 3d and 2d as well . As you notice in the procedure of this method it makes study for each direction individual 

and the imperfections are defined in this way by adding notional loads.

Usually if you are working on 2D frame only X , Z directions are activated so you cant create load on Y direction .

What is seen in this picture that is it possible to add notional load on Y direction which totally wrong.
