custom thin walled section calculated principal system angle

hello,

i am trying to make a custom z section that it is also thin wall.ed.

the section definition module calculates  an alpha angle an the Ix, Iy Iz are calculated also in that prinscipal inclined system.

the problem is that it stores that Iy Iz values to database according to that principal system and NOT in the zero degree angle that the section will asemble to the structure.

How can i store the values according to the arbitary zero degree angle system to the database?

is it a bug or im i doing something wrong?

i checked ather databases that has also Z sections (borgapro,sadefpro,aus2pro and all Z sections are stored with gamma angle =0.00  and the Iy,Iz according to 0 degree angle system

also noticed that in the databases the sections aren t marked as "thin walled" .is it wrong?

Hi @achillesgr

Sections created in Section editor are stored in database in Principal system of coordinates.

Section editor can  calculate section properties in central or arbitrary system of coordinates.

So if you want to have section stored in central  coordinates  you have to update database manually using Tools >Section database. Then after opening users database you should replace "principal" values by values calculated in Central system of coordinates.

Thin walled sections (if you wand to use steel design option properly) have to be updated with thin walled correct section type number. Section type for thin walled sections cannot be saved from Section editor.

Please see attached video tutorial for thin walled sections.
