Hello,

Three questions

 

1)

I am trying to model cracked section properties, however I do not completely understand how to modify the coefficients of stiffness to model accurately. When I do modify these values, I seem to get incoherent results.

Could someone please explain how to modify these? (see attached screenshot)

I am trying to model concrete section with 60% membrane and flexural stiffness. 

 

2)

What is the recommended meshing method for a cylindrical tank. 

 

3)

I am trying to use planar load on 3p contour, and keep getting a message that says "Contour creation error" (see attached pic). What does this message mean and how do I correctly apply this pressure?

Hi @Anonymous ,

For item 1 I would recommend to create a new material with reduced Young's module.

For such shape you need to use the Coons one.

Mind that you need to either on the last defined contour point again or on the first defined one to complete the contour definition.

Mind that you need to either on the last defined contour point again or on the first defined one to complete the contour definition.

 

Does this mean you need to finish the contour on the same plane as first or? Sorry I didn't fully understand this.

Assuming your contour is a rectangle with 4 corner points you define it by clicking in:

- point 1 / point 2/ point 3 point 4/ point 4 (again)

or

- point 1 / point 2/ point 3 point 4/ point 1 (again)
