Coordinate L value in steel design

Hello There

 

I would appriciate if someone could explain to me what exactly the L represents in a coordinate on the steel design output calculations.

 

I have this structure

However  beams have different L values in the cordinate even if they are the same lengths and the deflection limits are calculated correctly.

I would expect the L to represtn the total length of the beam and in one of the two examples this is the case.

 

Is this L refered to the actual lenth of the beam or is something different?

L is the bar length.

X is the postion where the verification is done. X  is fraction [0, 1] of L

Thank you for clarifing that

 

Could you please then explain to me how on this model  the first bar has L=0 but at the same time the difflection check is done correctly with the assumtion that the bar is 2.25m long?

All the other elements seem to have the L value as 2.25m  but bar 1 is not.

X = 0*L = 0

X=0 not L=0

Thank you Simau your input is really helpful thank you very much.

 

So if then i undertand correctly this cordinate is only for ULS checks  where the maximum stress applies.

Therefore in my case since the beam is fixed in both ends it dosnt matter if the software picks the full length of the beam (2.25m) or the starting point ( 0m)?  thats the reason why the other beams are in full length while this one is at the starting point?

No, If the stress is bigger at the end node robot would display X=1*L=2.25, or any other postion X=0.75L for example

 

thats the reason why the other beams are in full length while this one is at the starting point?

I can't  answer without the model. But surely yes, you can trust Rpbot
