(API) Storey Stability Index Calculation

The calculation of the storey stability index Q is based on clause 10.14.4 of the National Standard of Canada CSA A23.3:19 “Design of concrete structures”. I hope this small macro will help Canadian Robot users.

General Usage Instructions

  1. Modify the moment of inertia for all structural members. It is recommended to use the IModifier to speed up the process.
  2. Make sure that storeys are defined in the model.
  3. Input manual load combination number in cell B2. It is assumed that the load combination contains lateral forces.
  4. Run analysis.
  5. Press the Get Results button.

Assumptions

For each storey Robot returns results in global X and Y directions. These results are reported in columns Vfx, Vfy, Δox, Δoy. However, for Q calculation the program uses the Square Root of the Sum of the Squares procedure to determine Vf and Δo.
