ACIS and no material error

Hello.

I'm experiencing some trouble with ACIS import and meshing. I have a surface composed structure modeled in Autocad 2013 and tri to import it in Autocad so I can mesh it with shell elements and calculate. When doing throug dwg I cannot get surfaces, but lines and/or bars. So I've tried with ACIS which is working well, importing the model, reconigzing surfaces and meshing it. But in the verification process, "No material" error is appearing for some surfaces (they varie from time to time). It doesn't matter what I do, is always happening the same. It's a relatively easy geometry, composed only of rectangles, but even so not working.

Can anyone give me some guidance? I attach both the cad and Acis file.

Thanks.

It seems it might be better to import dwg as bars, then create panels in robot.

We will look at it deeply tomorrow

I've partilly solved the problem. Found that you need to manually create panels from the imported entities (surfaces) asigning thickness and material. Is not ideal but is not more time consuming that asigning only thickness and material because you can do all in one stage.

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks and Best Regards.

Interesting, but how did you do?

Thanks.

opening dwg, creating flat panels

the tricky thing was creating tubes by flat panels, I create characteristic points \ edges by bars (shown below) then basing on their nodes created flat panels.

Interesting, but takes a little more time than the other method, as you already get the surfaces created and only need to select them and create new panel.

Thanks anyway. Issue solved.

Your choice 🙂

But please check your model if meshes are well connected.
