3D connection view not showing for steel splices in Robot

Hi All,

I wonder if anyone can help us.

For some reason when designing steel to steel splice connection details in Robot the 3D connection view is not showing. 

It shows for other types of connections but not this one.  A google search does reveal that others people have had success getting this view to work.

I feel like we are missing something simple.  Does anyone know how to solve this?  The view is great to show others how the connection is intended.
