Why do i sometimes get he option to change rebar hook length in the view window?

Hey Guys,

I've been modeling a lot of rebar and i find that sometimes i get given the option to change the length of my rebar hooks in the view window as shown below. (i do have to check "override hooks length" to make the change) 

But sometimes this option does not come up, even after i click "override hook lengths". i then have to manually go into the properties to change the length of my hooks.

I may be looking at this simplistically but I thought this was due to the Rebar Shape itself where the Hook is more of a Leg and directly related to the Shape.

not quite, i have this issue with stirrup hooks. sometimes i can change. sometimes i can't. 

must just be a glitch.

I have never come across this unfortunately and can only think it may be down to Hook Lengths being locked due to Auto-Calculation?

And can only suggest reinstalling the Rebar Shapes to ensure you have the latest families installed.

Insert Tab > Load from Library Panel > Load Autodesk Family

You can hold down Shift on your keyboard and click on the First and Last item.
