View range

Hi everybody

I've problem with view range in structural plan views. I would like to have a plan view in which it should be represented only the top part of the foundation (i.e. the portion highlighted in red in the section below).

I've set the following values of the view range offset.

in this way however I continue to see also the bottom parts of the foundation as well as the sub-foundation (highlighted with red arrows in the plan view). I don't want to see these parts in this view. I've tried to change the values of the offsets but I can't understand the behaviour of the visualization.

Can anyone help me?

Tank you in advance

Mauro

PS: I've changed the default orientation view direction of structural plan views; now their direction view is oriented down.

Could it be related to this issue?

I have seen previous posts which suggested editing the View range in the family?

Hi @jay_colcombe thank you for your support. For the sub-foundation (modelled as architectural floor) I've understood that it is a singolarity of Revit so I have to keep in mind the adjusted range of 1.22m. Instead for the foundation, I've modified the checkbox of "Parameters/ Show family pre-cut in plan" and now I can see correctly the portion of foundation that it is cut (thick lines and diagonal hatch) but I still see the bottom part of the foundation in projection that I don't want to see.

There must be an association driving it somewhere, if you open a 3D View > Right Click > Orient to View and select the Plan with the expect view Range and Change the view to 3D you will see the scope box correctly crops the View as expected

Hi @jay_colcombe thank you for your suggestion. However I can't understand why the foundiation is not cut correctly in structural plan views but it is cut correctly in 3d views with the trick that you suggest.
