Using ReCap Mesh in Revit: Problem Measuring and Dimensioning

Working with ReCap and the Mesh Editor is going very well. Loading the .rcmr file works flawlessly. One of the best features is the ability to convert the mesh into a Revit family, which can then replace the original mesh.

My problem: how can I measure or dimension the converted mesh/family? Currently, I can only snap to the origin point. I would really like to be able to measure within the mesh and add dimensions.

Does anyone know a solution for this?

The only way I know of to do this is to place the mesh in the model and use Add to Document. This will allow you to pick a category to add the mesh to and allow you to select the individual elements.

I just tested it, and unfortunately the Annotate/Linear or Alingned aren't snapping. I don't have any snap points showing up. Is it different for you?

To clarify, you placed the mesh into Revit and ran the Add to Document tool? Did it import the Mesh and triangulated surfaces? check out this Blog 😉 ...

Maybe a dumb question, but are you Snaps On in Revit?

I imported the mesh exactly as described in the link. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. If it works for someone else, I would really like to see how a dimension is attached to the mesh.

Snaps is On 😉

Hmmmmm, not sure why it's not working for you 🤔. At first, i thought it might have something to do with the Discipline the view is set to. it could be the category the mesh was assigned to when it was Added to the Document.

Attached is a video of my process.
