Does anyone know why I can't apply shear tab connections to this model? Is it because of the geometry? Does anyone know if Advance Steel would have trouble with it as well?

Thanks.

Revit Connections are very rigid (excuse the pun!) in their application and follow strict rules especially for the elements themselves.

The simplest test is to try - if you get a warning it’s beyond scope!!

Advanced Steel will be a lot more forgiving and more of a fabrication tool so you can make things look exactly like you need and how it will be built, as long as it meet code/design constraints you have a lot more flexibility.
