Text Opaque Background Offset

I'm trying to figure out a way to change the offset of the opaque background for text.  On the image, you can see that the opaque background extends to the left and right of the text pretty far, further than we think is neccesary so it always ends up clipping more objects than it should.  I've noticed that it seems to be worse if the text is rotated.

If the text is part of a label, we can make the text transparent and add a masking region to create a smaller opaque area, however for regular text we can't do this very easily.

Changing the "leader/border offset" value does not impact the masking region.

Is there a system setting somewhere that can be adjusted to make this border smaller?  Is there a font that works better (I've experimented with several but this doesn't seem to  make a difference).  It seems that the offset in the left/right direction is much different than the top/bottom direction, which doesn't make sense.Capture.PNG

In the project if you go to "Annotate" under the text you will see a small diagonal arrow. When you click on this you will get into the "Type properties".

This is where the text settings are for your different text types. You can make your dfferetn types transparent and you have the "Leader/Border offset".

Unfortunately, this is about the extent of the control you have.

Right - this really doesn't fix the issue.  Is there a system variable that can be modified?  Maybe in the .ini file (just trying to think outside the box)?

There are no other settings that I know off that will influence these things.

Agreed, bummer... trying to add a wider margin and not liking the results.

Are there any plans to fix this? I'm having the same issue with text in Revit 2024, and I think the opaque text looks terrible. This is particularly annoying when using boxed notes, it is crazy to me that there is no option to fill/mask the entire box. The only workaround has been using the border offset, but this does not fully fix the problem and doesn't help at all when dealing with standard opaque text. Autodesk help us please this would be so easy to fix and would make everyone's opaque text look so much more professional!

I was having an issue where the opacity extended far beyond the boundary of my text. This turned out to be a graphical error within Revit.  It was solved by simply restarting Revit.  Revit always gets a little bit quirky when left on too long.
