Structure pile foundation family why cannot able to adjust as per concrete Rebar Cover

Hi Everyone,

Please see the snippet below. I have a small problem with this pile foundation. In picture one, I can arrange the rebar according to the cover space for the rectangle-shaped foundation. However, in the picture below that rectangular shape, I cannot arrange the rebar according to the cover, and there are no rebar cover settings for that pile.

I'm trying to organize rebar for that specific pile column, as can be seen in the last 4th picture, which is the cut plan of that particular pile column, but it's just taking reference as the upper rectangular cap.

In the last 5th picture for a single round shape column family, I can able to arrange rebar as per cover settings but for this pile foundation family How can I fix this?

The issue you have is the Pile is a Steel Pile in this Family and Cannot host Rebar  (Use the Tab Key to cycle the Pile in the Family to select the embedded Pile Family and see it Properties)

Whereas in the Pile-Cap-4 Round Pile Standard the Piles are concrete and act as expected.

Hi, I am not sure what else to add as your question simply equates to, you cannot place rebar in steel piles.

If you are looking for a step-by-step solution please refer to this similar issue from a few days ago which looks at swapping steel piles for concrete ones.

Solved: Place rebar in structure foundation - Autodesk Community - Revit Products

TBH the OOTB Revit Families are not the best, in this instance I would just simply Edit the Pile Cap-4 Round Pile as I know you can place rebar in it by copying and aligning the Piles to the other locations

Here is an example of the OOTB 9 Steel Pile Cap which i have edited but it is in 2025 only sorry I do not have any older versions
