Structural modeling workflow tips?

I have issues with placing beams 'on grids'  if I want to place the beams on a sloped workplane, it doesnt pick up the grids so i end up having to manually place the beams on the grids one by one. any advice would be appreciated plus any tips and tricks with structural modelling in general.

There are several ways to approach sloped framing, depending on your needs.  I think this is too much to cover in an answer on a forum but I have attached a paper from a conference that covered this exact topic.  I hope it helps.
