Structural Model from architectural

Hello all,

We received the architectural model.rvt and we want to create our structural model based on it.

I notice that they created their walls and floors with multiple layers (image below). So in order to keep only the structural part I need to edit them and to remove the other layers (finish/thermal etc). As the height of the element change after this modification , I need to re-adapt the level of the wall/floor.

1.Is it better to ask them to create the structural walls as separated walls , in order to just delete the rest?

2.Is it better to create by my own our structure ( I think that is faster to keep only the structural part from their elements,  changing also the name of the wall/floor family).

3. Is there something else to check in their model that should be already done from them?

4.Generally which criteria  you have from the architects in order to be able to work after taking their model ?

Thank you in advance for your time !

You shouldn't be modifying the architectural model.  Link it in your own structural model, copy monitor the walls that need to be load bearing, align core to core, and change the wall types to structural wall types.

Hello @ToanDN ,

Thank you for your answer. What about the floors? I want to keep only the structural part, but when in the copy monitor I replace the architectural type floor with my structural floor (20cm) after the copy monitor, it comes in a wrong altitude, so I need to correct it manually.

Also I see that in the architectural model they don't have checked the structural walls as ` structural `.

thank you!
