Structural Columns not showing up in detail view section?

Have two columns (channel sections) on either side of an existing wall.

Columns display fine in the elevation view and 3D view but do not show up when a section view is cut.

Have you tried changing discipline to structural? if you have a linked model, try underlaying it too.

check if "structural columns" are also turned on.

Edit the family and uncheck Precut... box.

Sure enough that solved my problem.

Still don't understand why flipping the orientation would show the columns.

An engineer pointed out another tech had this issue yesterday. Found the same, re would show up if section flipped, but seems to be related to where the far cut off is, ie the section has to go down to/through where the col starts.

If anyone has this problem, this solved it for us. 

Have been struggling to find why our colums would not show up in detail views changing this setting made it work how we wanted it to
