Structural Column Stacks Types

Dear all,

We came with an issue with regards to the column stacks were these are changing from one floor to another.  On Acad we used to have different column stack types depending on the floor height, different size, and reinforcement.

On Revit what is the normal practice to model and identify the different column stacks?

Regards,

Daniel

When you say "column stack", what exactly are you referring to?  Can you provide a screenshot of the issue?  You mentioned reinforcement, so are talking about concrete columns?

If it's the Column you simply draw/model it from Floor to Floor (Level to Level) as each column size would be an individual type.

You can place one Column for the Lower Stack use the Copy to Clipboard and then Paste to Levels which will stack them and edit sizes etc.

So to model columns in revit it is best to model a column at each floor, if I am understanding correctly.

And then if you have different types of column stacks, for example:- C01, C02,.... are groups of column stack types.

C01:- 1000 x 1000 from SFL level 0 to SFL Level 3

C02:- 1000 x 1000 from SFL level 0 to SFL Level 5

C03:- 1000 x 1000 from SFL level 0 to SFL Level 1 and change to 800 x 800 SFL Level 2 to SFL Level 5

C04:- 1200 x 1200 from SFL Level 0 to SFL Level 1 and change to 1000 x 1200 SFL Level 2 to SFL Level 5

And sometimes there is also different reinforcement between the same size.

Is there an easy way to identify and group the column types?

Thanks and regards,

Daniel

Thats how I would approach it!

To group column Type you Edit the Type Mark in the Properties for that Column so it is the same for all columns of the same size/reverence.
