Hi All !

 

I need to model a floor that has 2 layers, one structural (RC) and one of screed with a slope. the trick is that the underside of the structural slab has to remain the same level.

 

Capture2 - How the slab would like to look ( exagerated slope )

Capture1 - 3D of slab after using a slope arrow.

Capture3 - Slab after modifying the offset of corner slope.

You can do this by using the Floor/Slab Shape Edit tool in conjunction with a Variable layer contained in the floor family.

 

To do this, edit the Type Properties of your Floor/Slab.

In the type Properties dialog, pus the "Edit" button next to the "Structure" property.  This will take you to the "Edit Assembly" dialog.

Your floor family should have two layers.  In your case, the upper one is the one you want to vary based on the slope created by the Shape Edit.

 

So in the row for your screed layer, click the checkbox in the "varies" column.

Now when you slope a slab using the shape edit tools, the bottom layer will remain level while the top layer varies in thickness.

I got 1 issue here,  why doesn't the slope fallow he drawn detail line, and it is interrupted by the shaft/corners/points ?

Is the opening part of the floor sketch? A control is added at each corner of the sketch, which creates a "folded" shape of the floor.  (You can move one line or corner, but the rest of the controls remain at 0".)

 

I had success in sloping the floor uniformly  by creating an opening (Instead of sketching an opening in the floor, the selecting an edge of the floor to change the elevation of (or a sketched split line) using the "Modify Subelements" command from the ribbon.

Thank you so much for the help; both solutions will have to do!
Either doing a shaft in the floor after modifying he elevation or using "modify sub elements"
It's a a bit of workaround,
