Ribbon icons different in Windows 7 vs. XP?

Just a quick question to see if anyone else has ran across this. I am running Windows XP 64 and have a couple of Revit projects under my belt. (Not an expert by any means). We just set up another tech running with Window 7 64 (Ultimate I think) and Revit. He's been asking me questions about how to do things and I've been helping out as much as I can. One thing I've noticed is that the icons on the ribbon and the layout look different and the only thing I can think of is the OS being the culprit. The software is straight out of the box, all of our custom families are pulled from our network...I'm baffled.

Has anyone seen this or have any insight or suggestions??

Thanks!!

Can you post some images?

One thing you could try to do is reset the ribbon by removing the UIState.dat file.

See this article:

OS should not be an issue- though the ribbon will resize some panels based on your screen resolution.

Hi Joe, thanks for the reply.

Attached are a couple of images from my computer (the XP 64 bit) and my coworker using Windows 7. I've outlined the areas in question in red, take a look at tell me what you think. I may resetting the ribbon like you mentioned.

Looks like the Win7 version does not have a service pack or the subscription advantage pack loaded. Note the icon for the framing eleveation. This was revised in the update releases.

Check the Help > About and verify the version numbers.

Hey Erik,

You were right, I installed the adavantage pack and everything looks correct now. I thought I did that during the install, but I guess not.

Thanks!
