Revit 2025 crashes when adding steel connections

Hi all. I've had this issue for quite a while, not only with Revit 2025, but with versions going back to 2023. I do know it might have something to do with my laptop rather than a software-wide bug.

Every time I need to add a steel connection in Revit, the program seems to freeze up and not respond. I can get to the stage of adding a general connection, but once I click the general connection button to add a specific connection, Revit freezes. A similar thing happens if I attempt to add a steel plate or when using steel connection automation.

Can you select a specific Connection prior to adding it in the Model?  Is the crash due to them not being available?

The same thing happens (i.e. freezing up) when I attempt to open connection settings to add connection types as you have shown in the images. You are right in that there are no specific connections other than general connection in the list of options.

I recall an issue whereby no content had been installed and this impacted on the Connection Container.

I would make sure you have installed the Revit content installed

For me it hangs when I click on connection settings.
I downloaded the content, installed it and that did nothing.
I can click on Plate, it hangs, bolt, does nothing.
Connection doesn't work.
The only thing that does seem to work is connection automation.
All that comes up is Generic Connection, can load anything either.
All I want to do is draw a girt bolts to a cleat plate fixed to a column.

I have seen another issue recently where just creating a Plate freezes Revit.

Have a look at this as thee is obviously a common issue here?

"The Steel add-in encountered an error..." appears followed by a crash when opening or saving a mode...

I have this exact problem, does anyone know a fix for it yet? Even reinstalling Revit didn't do anything.
