Revit 2019 - Problem with steel Shear studs

I've a probelm with  Shear studs in new Revit 2019 module "steel".
The connectors are placed rotated 180°

The problmem is not for all the steel beams..

 

How do I fix it?

Hi Arturo,

 

I was not able to reproduce this issue on a new model.
Can you, please, upload the model on which you reproduce this. I want to investigate it and see why this is happening.

the probel is on secondary beams (UB 152x89x16)

On main beans, the function work well.

 

Other question: why it insert 3 studs for default? and how can i move the stud? (there are no snap point)

Hi Arturo,

 

I reproduced the issue with the shear studs that are created upside down and I created a new issue in our backlog for the development team to fix.

 

The number of shear studs that is created is controlled by a default. This default can't be accessed at the present moment by the user. We are working on a way to give the user control on defaults, in a future version.

 

Shear stud pattern can be moved by drag. Snap points are not available in this version.

Hello @info,


Dev team investigated why the shear studs are created upside down, and the answer is that the beam has the normal axis upside down. That dictates the shear stud direction. 

 

Workaround to your issue: Delete the beam and recreate it with the same section.

 

I want to know how you inserted the beam inside the Revit model. What were the steps? I want to see if I can reproduce the issue with the beam that has the normal axis upside down. Did you imported it from Robot?

Hello mihai,

 

I've insert steel beam directly from Revit editor, but in 2018 version.

I think so that the problem is during conversion 2018 > 2019.

Where i can view the normal axis of the beam? the only parameter is section rotation (set to 0.00 in my model)

Hi,

 

You can determine the axes using the analytical axis of the beam, but the beam inside your model doesn't display an analytical axis.

I tried to reproduce the issue using the UB-Universal Beams content from the UK country folder. I was not able to reproduce it, even after a convert from Revit 2018 to Revit 2019.


When you say Revit Editor, you mean that Shape Generator tool in Revit?

Hi Mihai,

 

 This issue seems to persist even in Revit 2021. I came across it today.

 Would be nice to be sorted, I can't find a workaround for it.

The shear studs are created on the inner side of the flange if you select the creation plane on the inner side of the flange.
Could you confirm that you selected the top face of the flange, when you created the shear studs?

Thanks for your prompt reply.
Yes, the top face was correctly selected. Please find attached a close-up
snip which clearly shows the studs on the desired face but with wrong
orientation.
