Rebar Hook 90° length parameters issue

Hi,

 

 

About Rebar Hook 90° Lengths Parameters, as you can see in the image below, the Revit guide's explain that the "Hook Length" must be shorter than the "Tangent Hook Length".

But inside the Rebar Bar Type Properties (last image below), this two parameters have the same value. I tried to remove auto calculate and changing manually the Hook Length, but automatically Revit set the same value to the Tangent Length. 

 

This cause some trouble inside the Rebar schedule between the total length value and the sum of the lengths of singles segments and hooks lengths.

 

Is this an issue of the automatic calculation of 90° Hook parameters?

 

In 135° and 180° hooks, these parameters works perfectly according with the Revit's guide.

Hi,

 

I investigated the case of this "90 deg hook length" issue and it seems that this is an intended behavior. 

You mentioned that there are differences between the total length value and the sum of the lengths of singles segments and hooks lengths. Can you send me an example to see how is this affecting your schedules? 

Looking forward to clarify this case.

Hi Ionica,

 

thanks for your interest. In the image below, we can compare a bar with 90°/135° hooks and a bar 135°/135°.

As you can see, the length parameter in the Bars detail and in the Schedule are correct for the bar n. 2 and wrong for the bar n.1.

 

- BAR 1 LENGTH: 119 cm ; BAR 1 SEGMENTS: 100 + 13 + 8 = 121 (FALSE)

- BAR 2 LENGTH: 116 cm ; BAR 1 SEGMENTS: 100 + 8 + 8 = 116 (TRUE)

 

I think this problem is caused by the incorrect value of the 90° hook lenght that I exposed in the first post.

Total bar length are both correct, i calculate it manually. The length of 90° hook should be less.

Hi Alfredo,

 

A special case exists for the 90 degree hook in which the tangent hook length is equal to the Hook Length. 

According to the calculation of shape codes the length of the bar and the bar segments are reported correctly in Revit.

So, when the hook is 90° this is how fabrication data is extracted for detailing.

The guide will be updated to better reflect this behavior.

I tried to find a logic that allows the two dimensions to be the same, but I could not find a solution.

So we waiting for the guide's update to explain the topic.

Iam not able to create new Rebar Hook Type, I need to assign a different angle for Hooks in my model in Revit 2024! any ideas??

Go to project browser, scroll down to Structural Rebar > Rebar Hook, right click one of the existing types and Duplicate. Then you can edit the hook angle and apply it to a rebar.
