Poor Performance - Rebar

Hi All,

I have a very frustrating situation with Rebar that I am hoping a more seasoned user can help with.

The attached file contains an abutment panel with reinforcement (mostly constrained).

Revit takes 30 minutes, sometimes longer (the worst case was 2 hour) to either:

  • Move the panels
  • Copy the panels
  • Edit constraints

and around 5 minutes to make adjustments to the panel parameters

Things I have tried

  • Making them assemblies for moving & copying (No effect), it takes just as long to create and disassemble.
  • Setting Detail Level to Coarse and Wireframe

The rebar in the panel, and the panel is unpinned.

This seems like an unreasonable amount of time to process.

Any assistance, solutions, reasons for this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Brent

Make a group of each panel with its rebars.

The group will move very quickly.

Hi @BrentBurgess1980

What version of Revit are you using?

I should probably add too.... when I undo (after it does finally move) it moves back instantaneously.

Other things I have found, although not sure should affect it is that there is 1 set of freeform rebar.

I think we have resolved the issue after going through the reinforcement individually deleting and testing.

The issue was these bars - we had 2 sets with an alternating lap. Once we deleted one of them, the whole moved in about 5 seconds - about the time I was hoping for.

Still not sure why that made it slow down though, but happy we found the solution.
