Plan setup

Quick Question -

I would like to attach the architectural model in a link and have the walls show through but the structural template does not allow for the walls to be shown in 2017.  How do I fix that?  In the Visibility window walls are checked.  This is a commercial project.

Thank you so much

Angela

in your property dialogue box, check coordination as the discipline and it will be okay

Coordination works but with structural for hidden line detail not all will show plus other things that you may want to show. Best thing our company has figured out is in properties is if the architect is working in the same model. Then you can go to properties on the left scroll down to structural an click the check box that says structural. Which will enable it to show as a structural wall. But if you're doing this in a link model you will more then likely have to open up the link model an do it in there. If that doesn't work you may just have to tinker with visual graphics and possibly view range.

HAHA the answer in this case was neither or.  I had discovered that my view range was not set to the new -100'-0" as the architect had determined for his model so everything was below the view.  I thought I had changed it!  Ugh long week so far.

Thank you so much for your help!

I think I may have figured one issue of items not showing up properly - the architect set his finish floor (and model) to be -100'0"  Is there a way for me to be able to set my finish floor to match his?

In your VG "Visual Graphics" are walls turned on? Assuming they are since you're getting the door openings are showing. So have you tried my solution? If so the only other two options I can think of in VGs/Revit Links Click on Host View and click on custom bubble. An just tinker with turning on or turning off things. Another one would be check to make sure the linked worksets are turned on too. Or just see if in hidden view things are turned off.

I just saw your other reply. That could be tricky. May have to move the linked model to be alinged to your finish floor to match his. Then the more tricky option is shift your elevations to match his. If im guessing right I don't know changing your cut plane an view depth will help at his time.

Structure is giving me the run for money - I cannot even create a level at this point 😕 - I am reinstalling to default state to see if I can work the bugs out.

I think I am going to try changing the walls in the link to show in structural.  But is there a way to work with the trusses etc in the architectural template?  The link shows up perfectly there.

Levels can only be made in an elevation view only. So you can not do it in plan view. I would stick with the structural template. I don't have experience in the architects one. But if you do work in it trusses shouldn't be an issue. Though you'd have make sure your view depth/cut line can see them. As well as your structural trusses and beam systems turned on in VG.

So after a little looking - I found the solution to the walls not displaying.  In the RVT Link VG box there is a Discipline pull down that you can view the link using another discipline.  The walls appeared perfectly!
