Friends,
We own AutoCAD Revit Structure Suite 2011. I just found out that there is NO UPGRADE OPTION for this software. Once again, Autodesk leaves its' customers hanging. What's the point of buying a suite of anything if there's no knowing whether Autodesk will drop the suite and leave you with nothing? Has this sort of thing happened to you?
Were you on subscription? If so - this should have been upgraded to the BDS (Building Design Suite) Premium.
They have discontinues the AutoCAD/Revit Suites for the BDS packages.

If your AutoCAD/Revit Suite was on Autodesk Subscription, there was a fairly lengthy period (number of months) where one could upgrade the smaller suite (2 -3 products depending on AutoCAD-Revit suite version) to the Building Design Suite Premium (10 products), at no upgrade cost. I worked for an Autodesk Reseller at the time, and this was a VERY POPULAR offer. However, after the free upgrade expired, one can still migrate-upgrade smaller AutoCAD-Revit suites to the newer Building Design Suite Premium (or BDS Ultimate if wanted), of course there is a cost to do so.
For customers on subscription who chose not to upgrade to a larger Building Design Suite version, for the last two years their smaller suite would indeed upgrade to the newer CAD platform automatically (whether 2012 or 2013), one just couldn't buy new or additional licenses of the smaller suites. If additional licenses were needed, customers would have to buy one of the larger Building Design Suite versions. This confused the heck out of our customers.
It is my understanding that Autodesk will eventually phase out the smaller AutoCAD-Revit suites, in favor of the more diverse Building Design Suite versions. Please don't yell at me, I'm not necessarily a fan of this product strategy, I believe the smaller suites made a lot of sense. Just wanted to confirm, there is an upgrade path from the smaller suite to the larger version.
As a 29 year veteran of Autodesk software, I feel your pain; these sorts of product changes do not always create the best impression or solution for all customers. For many companies however, the diverse product portfolio and interoperability between the apps, and ability to get things like 3DS Max Design and Navisworks, for marginally more than one would pay for the smaller suite, can be very appealing for lots of companies.
