Nested Family

Hello people

I want to create a nested family (a foundation family with a blinding family nested (slab)), so I created the blinding family first, then I opened the generic foundation family and "created a component" with the blinding family.

the problem is now whenever I try to assign a label between the two families to extend the blinding from the face of the footing, what Revit does is move the blinding (not resize it). is there a way to do that?

Thanks in advance

It is all a matter of building the families in the right way.

You will have to constrain the families and make sure the right data is passed from the host to the nested family.

Create the nested family and test if all the parameters works as expected and everything is constrained as needed.

Then load the nested family into the host. Also there make sure it is is constrained as needed and pass through the parameters as needed.

We possibly can give a more definitive answer if you would post your family sow e can have a look.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

here are the two families, i want to the blinding to be under the footing and extends 100 mm from each side.
as i said, whenever i do that the blinding family just moves, does not resize!

Hi @NERDASORUS

I responded to you in your other post.

You nested family needed parameters to be driven by other parameters in the host family length and width for example.

I created these for you. You can find attached your original families. I took the liberty of hosting your blinding family to your footing family.

Thank you so much for your reply

Another thing, is there a way to assign a different material to blinding than of the footing, I could not do it in the nested family, and if I went back to the original family, it does not include the material!
it changes back to "by category"
