Modifying caged ladder to make it not wall based

I've got this caged ladder we have been using but it's wall based positioning. Is there a way to make it so it doesn't require a "wall" to place it? I don't want to just "hide" the wall and call it good.

Thanks!

It's not possible you have to model it again in a generic model or two level based as I know

In the family you can select all the objects (not the wall) and then create a group. Then you can save the group.

Then you have a family without the wall. It probably will carry over some of the parameters. But you will need to fix it and add in lost constraints and dimensions. Might save some work compared to start from scratch

It's possible!

  1. Create a new wall by duplicating an existing wall type in the Project Browser (right-click and select "Duplicate").

  2. Select the wall type in the Project Browser (the one that is being used as the host) and delete it by clicking on the Delete button or right-clicking and selecting "Delete".

I've tried Toan's suggestion and it doesn't work. When I get to the part where I have to copy/monitor the link, I can select the link but I can't copy just the ladder. I followed the video as well and again, when I get to the copy part, I can't select the ladder itself.

Nevermind. I figured out the problem. I had to change the catagory for the ladder family from specialty equipment to mechanical. Once I did that, I was able to finish the procedure.
