Modeling stiffener plates to WF beams

Hi

We're tasked with modeling stiffener plates (to support an extra wide bent plate

on top flange) to WF beams for an upcoming project.

Apparently there isn't a stiffener family in Revit for this purpose. I'm trying

the gusset plate, but not sure How I can get it to cope past toe of top flange.

Any help would be appreciated. This is our first time modeling connections.

thanks

Joe

Hi Joe,

I was just doing web stiffeners in the web of a composite wide flange truss this morning.

I'd cut a section view looking at a side elevation and one through the member itself. Set a reference plane at the location you want the stiffeners and model it in place one time on the reference plane using the Structure --> Component --> Model in Place function with an extrusion. Set the family category and parameters to structural stiffeners.

I couldn't find a family that did what I wanted it to do, so I just modeled it manually. Much faster, easier, and accomplished exactly what I needed.

Hope this helps.
