Missing properties while export/import .sat from/to revit project and family

Hi everyone,

I have modeled an structural object in revit, then I exported as .sat file. Now I want to import the .sat object into a revit family. As shown in photos, in revit environment I have assigned materials to the element, but the material -or in general visual graphics- of the element is not visible in family environment.

I would like to ask, how should I fix this problem?
I'm using Revit 2021.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Greatings,

Jaap

Can I ask why you inserted the column from SAT back into Revit your kind of going around in circles.

you can always edit the column within Revit itself because it is in a family.

Hi again and thanks for your reply,

Actually, we want to bring the entire structural element inside the family. The parts like plate and bolts are made by Connection toolbar in revit which is not available in family environment. that's why we made the model in revit project environment then converted as another object to be importable in family.

Another option we tried but didn't work, was exploding the connection element and make it as group to be importable in family. But it shows error that cannot group the plates and bolts.

I hope the explanation made it more clear. Thanks again for your attention.

Best,

Jaap

A SAT exported from Revit only contains 3d solid geometry, nothing else.  You might one to export the connection to IFC instead.

Hi,

Have you tried inserting a connection within your project and inserting on the column or beam ?Because you can customize it ounce you have the connection on your structural object.

Hi,

You can open the column sizes your working with create a model in place baseplate with your materials and insert it in the column family a component.

Or you can load a Autodesk family as shown in the image below and modify it.c.JPG
