Loading layer names/ classification codes according to Uniclass (BS1192)

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding loading Uniclass codes into layer names in Revit 2016/2017. How can I import the Uniclass codes all at once, do I need to use a NBS plug-in? Unfortunately the British Standard 1192 that I can choose from drop down manu in Modify DWG/DXF desn't comply with the latest issue BS1192:2007+A1:2015.

Hi dzikaswinia, were you able to find a solution? I would also like to load Uniclass 2015 layer names when exporting to DWG.

Hi you need to edit the dwg export table with all the required uniclass 2015 layer names using the fields and descriptions as per bs1192:2007 / I have done this already and happy to assist you develop this further

Hi Stewart,

I have created a new export setup and called it "Uniclass 2015". I have an Excel spreadsheet with the layering/naming I would like to add. There are so many, there must be a way to do this automatically?

Also, how do you get the new export setup to open in a different project than the one I'm working on?

Hi hopefully you have opened up the bs1192.txt file in excel to get the correct format then once you have updated to suit uniclass 2015 you can then export via tab csv file (Renamed to .txt) then you can load this into every project for dwg export. If you also want these layers exported to ifc you need to amend the Revit.ini file - further details noted here - http://www.evolve-consultancy.com/resource/guides/exporting-layers-ifc-revit also more info on the overall process will be published in a few weeks (as currently on holiday) via my blog - http://blog.digital-guerrilla.scot/

You are correct this does take along time - I have over 700 layers mapped to uniclass 2015 April 2017 update which took me a few months to btm out as first I had to download all the uniclass tabs (so I could search them easier) then in excel load in the old bs1192.txt file then update all the new sub categories then mapped all the uniclass to them - it goes on and on - feel free to drop me an email

Hi @Anonymous , I just open a conversation on this topic (https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/export-layers-dwg-bs1192-revit-to-dwg/m-p/10572705#M330372) and I saw this discussion. I was wondering, would you be able to share the txt or excel sheet to see how you mapped the two? I would be really appreciate.
