join command

i created a 2x1  family using structure beam and i created another one using structure column profile. i loaded both the beam and column in but cant join them. i cant even select them... what am i doing wrong?

by their nature, i don't think beams and columns will join.

Sure they can join.  Share the families here.

Make sure you have set the Coarse checkbox to checked in the Visibility/Gaphics Overrides of the Element you wish to join.

Awesome. Got it. Also started customizing material takeoff sheets. Is there anyway get cut angles on beams and columns. Like if I mitre them at 45 degrees can I get that show up in material takeoff
