how to prevent change of structural member colour when adding a connection or miter etc.

Hi Guys,

ok, I have 2 questions:

1). Im having trouble understanding why or how to change the automatic change in member colour once ive either added a connection to 2 members or a miter etc.

Please help me to rectify this problem. Ive attached a screenshot for reference.

2). on the above screenshot, Ive created my own section as a beam (the staircase tread). But it is the same material as the staircase stringer. why is the colour also changing automatically? surely it should be the same brown as the standard section colour if it is the same material? and does anyone know how too change it?

It's because inside structural framing family material goes from other parameter then Structural Material and when you apply some steel command than fabrication shape automatically get material from Structural Material.

Ok i figured out the second question. as you can now see my stair treads are the same material as the rest of the stair case. this was due to lack of association of material from within the family editor.

but im still faced with the issue of the the column changing colour after i add a miter to it.

Im still battling to resolve this problem.

Is the material on the members that change colour a type or an instance parameter? Apparently if it's a type parameter then it will change but if it's an instance parameter then it should stay the correct colour.
