Hi everyone,
I'm working on a project in the CD phase and need to model a floor/wall connection. The condition I'm dealing with involves the following layers (from bottom to top):
- Structural framing with wood joists
- Plywood sheathing on top of the joists
- A layer of concrete finish
- The final finish floor
In this setup, the wall structure sits on top of the floor structure, meaning the structural framing appears to penetrate the stud, while the exterior finish remains continuous. The structural framing is from a linked structural model.
I could create a layer for the floor structure within the floor assembly and then join it with the wall to form the connection. However, my concern is that this approach might not work perfectly for the parallel floor joists, as shown in the second screenshot. In this condition, we want to avoid showing a continuous line at the bottom of the joists. The third image shows the line that I don't wanna show (the dashed red line).
I’m looking for advice on how to accurately model this connection in Revit, rather than using 2D graphics in the wall sections. Is there a way to represent this detail correctly within the model itself?
Please check the attached screenshot for the 2D version of this condition that I'm referring to. I used masking regions and detail lines to create this condition.
