You should make a concrete floor first, with the desired height of the hollow cores. Then select it and use the Segmentation>Split tool.

You can configure all sorts of thins in the configuration, like minimum width and stuff.

Hi,

In order to obtain the desired result you need to change or create a Hollow Core Slab temaplate. There are some templates that com with the installation. These can be found here: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Structural Precast for Revit 2018\Families\en\Custom Slabs

In order to have the segmentation performed, the hollow core family has to have the same thickness as you floor ( in you case 400 mm). The default families we are providing have the thickness of 200 mm.

Here is a link on how to create your own hollow Core Slab families:  http://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-E7D7E68A-7794-4458-A691-A1798733D2B2

Hi,

This family should be at the location of custom slabs. The name should start with Hollow Core Slab so that we load it into configuration. In Configuration, you select your newly created template for the segmentation. Draw a floor (thickness 40 cm) and use split using the Hollow Core Slab option. You should obtain the segmentation with your template.

Let me know if you need additional information.

Under Configuration in the Precast tab, in the tree on the left, go to Precast > Concrete > Slab > Hollwcore Slab > Segmentation

There, you can see 'Minimum Width', you can change that to be very small, so your hollowcores get generated.

I changet it to 1 and I still have the same error.

is there any other simple way to draw precast Hollowcore floor?

this video was the best explenation.

I followed the steps and I have modifoed the original file and created a new family (attached here)

but when I press "Split" I have an error:

I have created voids as you can see in the file that I attached here.

Do you know why I got this error?

Hi @Anonymous,

I has a look at your family and here are some things that you should make sure you have for the Hollow Core Slab.

The voids have to be independent (you have defined you void as a single item containing multiple skethces) -  you should define the void separately ( http://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-4603E42A-C22F-4D26-8295-D9925A9DD432) and make sure you you save where the family is situates the voids (e.g. C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Structural Precast for Revit 2018\Families\en\Custom Slabs)

After you have completed the void, you should add it to the template by following this rules: http://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-E7D7E68A-7794-4458-A691-A1798733D2B2

For the template please draw just a rectangle, as the profiles have to be defined like here: http://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-ED92BA19-026D-46A9-9E1F-851536B0E07B and should be saved here: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Structural Precast for Revit 2018\Families\en\Profiles

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Hi,

You need to bind it to the Length of Instance parameter. This parameter can be found in the Shared Parameter.txt which is located here: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Structural Precast for Revit 2018\Families\en

Hi @Anonymous,

You need to have the void (in your case LHD20 void 02_05_2018.rfa) at the same location as the hollow core template (C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Structural Precast for Revit 2018\Families\en\Custom Slabs). After i saved the void family and the hollow core slab template at this location I managed to obtain the desired result. I have attached the Revit file.

I am also trying to add precast hollow core slab and having same error that hollow core slab with invalid thickness, change the selected template family in config. or adjust the thickness of the slab to match.

I have applied generic floor first, than after in precast tab specifying hollow core slab, following same sequence.

But, is it possible that the hollow core slab family has metric unit and I am using imperial that's why the error is coming. please suggest.

Hi,

The thickness has to be identical. If you are using an imperial environment I would suggest to re-create the hollow core slabs based on the steps described here:

https://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2019/ENU/?guid=GUID-E7D7E68A-7794-4458-A691-A1798733D2B2
