You can't control Elevation line weights automatically like with fading using Depth Queuing. What I do is set everything to a thin line weight and use the linework tool to override where I want thicker lines, similar to the silhouette effect but more refined and user controlled. Sometimes I turn on shadow on elevations but the trade off is that the drawings will be printed in raster.
